If you like going scuba diving or snorkeling, you know that masks can be temperamental. Once the mask lets water in, while you are submerged, expelling the water can be difficult if you aren’t an experienced diver or if it's been awhile since your Open Water course skills training. If you have a purge valve, the problem is easily resolved. So, we’re here right now to help you find the best scuba mask with a purge valve for your next dive adventure.
Best Scuba Masks with Purge Valves Reviews
1. Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask
With a purge valve, a seamless view, and a high level of durability, the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask is undoubtedly one of the best options out there right now.
So, first off, the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask features a single lens viewing system. This is indeed preferable to a dual lens or split compartment system, as they are shown to drain faster and to fog up less. The single lens system is convenient because it helps provide you with a much clearer and unobstructed field of view.
Yes, the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask is fog resistant and very easy to clear, as it comes equipped with a purge valve. If water enters the mask, you simply expel air through your nose in order to clear the water. It really does not get any easier than that. On a side note, the purge valve does press down on the nose a little bit, which may cause some discomfort .
Another benefit is that the sides of the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask feature clear viewing windows, which provides good peripheral vision when wearing this mask. The exceptional silicone seal which this scuba mask features is another nice aspect because it helps ensure a tight and snug fit on your face, not allowing water in. The Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask is quite easy to adjust for a tight fit, another bonus.
2. Aqua Lung Pacifica Single Lens Dive Mask
Keeping water out of your mask can be tricky, but this Aqua Lung makes it easier than ever by giving you the ability to easily and quickly purge excess water from the mask without having to use your hands. This is great for beginners and more advanced divers alike, as it allows users to quickly clear water from the mask without having to surface in order to dump it all out. Additionally, this makes wearers feel much safer when they are in the water and can help prevent panic.
Thanks to the single lens design of this mask, wearers can enjoy an incredible field of view that isn’t hampered or shortened due to various lenses. Divers will be able to see all around them without missing any of the incredible sights under the water. Thanks to the design of the lens and the fact that it is tempered, it is very unlikely that the glass will break, even if there is an under-water accident that occurs.
The secure seal fits tight on most users, allowing for a connection that prevents any water from leaking into the mask. Some people, especially men with beards, may experience some leakage, but this is easily purged through the one-way valve without any fear of the water leaking back down. Additionally, the mask features nose pockets that are incredibly easy to reach. These pockets allow wearers to equalize their ears without spending a lot of time doing so, which will keep your ears pain free.
3. Scuba Choice Purged Mask
What is impressive is that the Scuba Choice Purged Mask is affordable while providing a high-quality design. It might have a couple of drawbacks, but it also has some great features, definitely nothing to complain about for the awesome price which this mask comes in at.
For one, the Scuba Choice Purged Mask comes with a really easy-to-use purge valve. The valve is quite superior indeed, and in case water leaks into the mask, simply blow air through your nose to clear it out. With that being said, the valve, and the Scuba Choice Purged Mask, in general, is pretty big and bulky but the mask itself does get the job done.
The Scuba Choice Purged Mask features a single-lens viewing system, which means that your field of view is not obstructed. With that being said, the sides of this mask are solid, so you do not really have any kind of peripheral vision with this mask. However, the sealing system is well constructed , limiting the potential for water to leak into your mask .
The Scuba Choice Purged Mask is made with really durable materials, so any chance of damaging the mask are minimal . The strap system which these goggles come with is of good quality , although not the most comfortable in the world, it does a fantastic job at keeping the mask in place, while also being adjustable for a secure fit.
4. XS Scuba Fusion Mask
Yet another good choice to go with, the clear nature of the XS Scuba Fusion Mask makes it a good option for your field of vision. Now, it might not be the most durable scuba mask out there, but it has a good purge valve, a secure fit, and a great field of view too.
When it comes to your field of view, the XS Scuba Fusion Mask features a panoramic single-lens design. This means that you have a clear and unobstructed view of everything in front of you as well as to the sides. You will have good peripheral vision when wearing this mask. The XS Scuba Fusion Mask features an anti-fog coating which is pretty important because fog will more or less blind you underwater.
One thing that we need to mention here has to do with the straps. The strap system, while it does allow for easy adjustments, is not the most durable. We like the included purge system here, because if water does happen to leak in, at least you can just blow air through your nose to get rid of it. This is probably going to be needed, as the seal on this mask is not the best we've ever seen.
5. Typhoon Panoramic Mask with Purge Valve
Unlike other similar masks that are very difficult to use when purging, the design of this mask makes it very easy to purge water from the mask without it taking a long time.
Thanks to the double skirt on this mask, it is so easy to purge and it also offers a tight and complete fit. The double mask ensures that the mask purges as effectively as possible, which is great for users who want to purge quickly on the go. Additionally, the mask helps to prevent a lot of water from being able to enter the mask when you are under water.
With the design of the side windows and how they are molded into the mask, users won’t experience problems with limited visibility. Being able to see to the side when under the water will help to keep you as safe as possible. Thanks to the peripheral vision, you won’t miss any great sights and you will be able to keep your eyes on other members in your group.
The mask is easy to adjust, making it possible for anyone snorkeling to enjoy a perfect and comfortable fit, even on smaller faces. It’s fairly easy to tighten and loosen the mask, which is great for beginners that have limited experience adjusting masks.
When it comes down to it, we like all 5 products which we looked at here today. However, if we had to recommend one single product, it would be the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask, although we do also really like the Scuba Choice Purged Mask as well.
