If you like going scuba diving or snorkeling, you know that masks can be temperamental. Once they let water in, when you are submerged, getting rid of that water can be difficult if you aren’t an experienced diver or if it's been awhile since your Open Water course skills training. If you have a purge valve, this problem is effectively solved. So, we’re here right now to help you find the best scuba mask with a purge valve for your next dive adventure.
Best Scuba Masks with Purge Valves Reviews
1. Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask
With a purge valve, a seamless view, and a high level of durability, the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask is undoubtedly one of the best options out there right now.
So, first off, the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask features a single lens viewing system. This is indeed preferable to a dual lens or split compartment system, as they are shown to drain faster and to fog up less. The single lens system is convenient because it helps provide you with a much clearer and unobstructed field of view.
Yes, the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask is fog resistant and very easy to clear. After all, it does come with the purge valve included. This means that if water enters the mask, you can just blow your nose out in order to empty it of water. It really does not get any easier than that. On a side note, the purge valve does press down on the nose a little bit, which may not be the most comfortable.
Another benefit is that the sides of the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask feature clear viewing windows, which means that you have pretty good peripheral vision when wearing this mask. The great silicone seal which this scuba mask features is another great aspect because it helps ensure a tight and snug fit on your face, one that will not allow water to get in. The Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask is quite easy to adjust for a tight fit, another bonus.
- Patented single lens design with side windows creates a panoramic field of vision.
- Ultra-clear no-tint glass delivers optimal clarity under water.
- Crystal clear double-sealing skirt is comfortable against the skin and keeps water out.
- Low volume styling and convenient swivel buckles allow for a snug fit and ease of clearing.
- EZ-grab nose pocket makes easy work of equalizing.
2. Scuba Choice Purged Mask
What is impressive is that the Scuba Choice Purged Mask is as affordable as it is considering its high-quality design. It might have a couple of drawbacks, but it also has some great features, definitely nothing to complain about for the awesome price which this thing comes in at.
For one, the Scuba Choice Purged Mask comes with a really easy-to-use purge valve. The valve is quite superior indeed, and in case water leaks into the mask, simply blow your nose to clear it out. With that being said, the valve, and the Scuba Choice Purged Mask, in general, is pretty big and bulky; it’s quite heavy and large, which is not the best, but the mask itself does get the job done.
The Scuba Choice Purged Mask features a single-lens viewing system, which means that your field of view is not obstructed by anything. With that being said, the sides of this mask are solid, so you do not really have any kind of peripheral vision with this mask. However, the sealing is made well, so it should never leak water to begin with, although it is possible.
The Scuba Choice Purged Mask is made with really durable materials, so breaking is not something that should happen anytime soon. The strap system which these goggles come with is pretty good, although not the most comfortable in the world, it does a fantastic job at keeping the mask in place at all times, not to mention that it is also adjustable for a secure fit.
3. XS Scuba Fusion Mask
Yet another good choice to go with, the clear nature of the XS Scuba Fusion Mask makes it a good option for your field of vision. Now, it might not the most durable scuba mask out there, but it has a good purge valve, a secure fit, and a great field of view too.
When it comes to your field of view, the XS Scuba Fusion Mask features a panoramic single-lens design. This means that you have a clear and unobstructed view of everything in front of you as well as to the sides. You will have good peripheral vision when wearing these this mask. The XS Scuba Fusion Mask features an anti-fog coating which is pretty important because fog will more or less blind you underwater.
One thing that we need to mention here has to do with the straps. The strap system, while it does allow for easy adjustments, is not the most durable. We like the included purge system here, because if water does happen to leak in, at least you can just blow your nose to get rid of it. This is probably going to be needed, as the seal on this mask is not the best we've ever seen.
When it comes down to it, we like all 3 products which we looked at here today. However, if we had to recommend one single product, it would most likely be the Scubapro Crystal Vu Plus Mask, although we do also really like the Scuba Choice Purged Mask as well
